ProdSee

A Startup Weekend hackathon project with IBM Watson (we won First Prize)

What is it?

What is it?

ProdSee was a project from the Startup Weekend event in April 2016, organized in partnership with IBM Watson. It was my first hackathon experience and I had a great time!

What I found unique about the experience was the focus on validation - validating the problem, your assumptions, and your proposed solution. Sounds pretty standard but you'd be surprised at how many startups jump straight to the solution without really understanding the problem. If you're familiar with the lean startup methodology - that's the main premise of the event. There are lots of resources online about the lean startup methodology. Here's a good article on Harvard Business Review.

The Opportunity

The Opportunity

After conducting multiple interviews and surveys, we found that there is demand for incorporating e-commerce in movies and TV shows.

We want users to instantly find and buy the products they want from their favorite shows.

Validation

Validation

Validation was a key part of our process - it was important to validate the problem, our assumptions, and the solution.

Through A/B testing, we found that out of 82 unique visitors, there were 11 visitors who clicked on the product, resulting in a 13.4% conversion rate.
